About Window Screens

Charlotte Screen Guys 704-909-7753

When calling for an estimate for your Charlotte, NC window screens, it is very helpful to know what type of window screens your window frames will accept.

Check your windows to see if the upper sash slides down and up.

Half screens only cover the bottom sash

 Half Screens

If the upper sash does NOT slide up and down, you will most likely need HALF SCREENS.

Most vinyl windows take half screens.

Full screens cover both upper and lower sashes and have a middle cross bar.

Full Screens

If the upper sash DOES slide up and down, you will most likely need FULL SCREENS.

Most wood windows will take full screens

With thin weaved screen meshes, the darker the screen the more invisible they are.

For example: bettervue and ultravue invisible screens are coated with black vinyl.

Gray and light colored screens cast glares and distort the view.

Decide what type of window screen mesh you want or need:

  • Standard Charcoal Screen Mesh Is Most Common--Strong, Good View, Less Expensive

MESH UPGRADES AND SPECIALTY MESHES

  • Bettervue -- thinner weave, less visible, great for window screens and porches
  • Ultraue -- even thinner weave, invisible from 10' away, great for window screens, less tensile strength
  • Pet Screen -- thick, very strong, less visibility -- great for pets that like to claw at screens. Used on windows and porches
  • Tuff Screen -- thinner than pet screen -- still strong and better visibility than Pet Screen
  • NoSeeUms -- strong, smaller holes, less visibility, keeps tiny little bugs out (mainly used near sandy soils)
  • Solar Screen -- cuts down on UV rays and can reduce heat from direct sun light. Lower visibility, strong, very expensive
  • Aluminum Screen -- high visibility, dents easily, very expensive
  • Stainless -- invisible, dents easy, very expensive
